The Centre for Area Studies invites applications for
8 positions for post-docs (researcher, TV-L 13)
for a period of 4 years.

The recently founded CAS focuses on the ways in which different world regions react to challenges of increasing global connectedness.
The CAS invites applications for projects that take a comparative approach to analysing political and cultural changes in a globalising world since the late 18th century.
Main research fields include: Popular culture and globalisation in East Asia; Migration flows and commodity chains; Political organisation beyond statehood in Latin America and Eastern Europe; Forms of macro-regional integration in the Islamic World; South Asia and Latin America in International Organisations; Colonialism and postcolonial orders in Africa and Asia; the spatial turn and its impact on area studies.

Prerequisites
- doctoral degree in either an area study or in a social science or humanities subject with particular focus on the area to be investigated
- an excellent record of publications
- Willingness to engage in a highly interdisciplinary collaborative research centre
- a 1000-word project proposal fitting into the general research programme of the Centre (see for a detailed description www.uni-leipzig.de/cas)
- Proof of Proficiency in English and in main languages used in the regions under investigation.
