Up to four Research Internships for international Master Graduates – GSGAS Leipzig University

The Graduate School Global and Area Studies (GSGAS) is pleased to offer up to four Research Internships (start-up fellowships) to international MA graduates for three months in Leipzig. The scholarship will award for the summer term (with effect from 1 April 2017) and include a grant of EUR 650 per month. Travel costs can also be covered by the GSGAS.

The GSGAS supports research projects that investigate key dimensions of global and transnational history and the role of entanglements transcending borders from the perspective of international, area and transregional studies, including the investigation of commodity chains, international organizations, migration systems and cultural transfers in the study of critical junctures of globalization. The GSGAS provides a well-structured teaching programme and competent individual supervision as well as the opportunity to interact with a group of more than 120 other PhD candidates and Post-docs in the same field of interest. At the same time successful applicants will work within research teams and learn about the application of specific methods in concrete topical research.

Applicants should have a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in one of the relevant disciplines from a wide range of the Humanities and Social Sciences. To ensure that your project fits into the GSGAS please inform you on the website of the GSGAS about the research agenda (http://home.uni-leipzig.de/~gsgas/research-agenda/)
Scholarship holders will participate in research seminars, working groups and colloquia of the GSGAS and will supervised by board members and Postdocs of the GSGAS. By the end of their stay, the selection committee will make the decision on the basis of a report by the candidates about admission to the Graduate School
